National Workshop on Legal Empowerment of Women- 29th Oct 2018

National Workshop on Legal Empowerment of Women was organised on 29th Oct 2018 at Jove Conscious Foundation (JCF), Mundka. The overall theme of the event was to make rural women aware about their legal rights. The event was co-operated and honoured by Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and All India Women Conference (AIWC). Mrs. SujaWarriar (Leader CSR and Employee Volunteering Infosys) and Mrs. Anjali Nigam (CEO,Founder Director, White Swan Consulting Group) were the chief guests of the event. A total of 764 community women and adolescent girls participated in this event and were directly benefitted by the workshop.

Mrs. Renu Gupta (Founder) and Mr. Sanjay Gupta (Co-founder) of JCF welcomed the esteemed chief guest. Ms. Kalpana Singh (Director, JCF) briefed the audience with the goals and purpose of the event.

After the introductory speech, an important session on legal rights was conducted by Ms. Shubhra (Senior Advocate and Head of Legal Department AIWC) where she highlighted the important and fundamental yet legal rights any and every woman should have. Taking over after Ms. Shubhra, Mrs. Firdoush Khan (Member, DCW) explained the facilities initiated by DCW for women safety and also threw light on the women helpline no. – 181 which solely deals with all the women associated violence issues.

Out of such huge crowd and multitude of students, 10 women received the “Veerangana” Award from the chief guests for their valour and fearless approach. They shared their real life experiences related with issues like sexual harassment, domestic violence and other atrocities with which they have gone through. These women not only blew the trumpet against these injustice but also single handedly took the responsibility of their family. Some of the women apart from all the mishaps, also participated in sports in different arenas and put up a tremendous show which reflects how strong the character of a woman can be.

The program was further taken ahead with cultural performances viz. nukkadnaatak, folk dances, etc. wherein the girls of the centre participated actively. The cultural programme was followed by Certificate Distribution Ceremony where the students of the previous batch who completed their miscellaneous skill courses received their diploma.

Impact of the event–

The students and their mothers learned vastly about the legal rights which every woman should have, of which they were completely unaware of.


The program boosted so much knowledge and education about the much important legal rights which from now on all the women present there could seek of as and when they feel necessary.


The biggest impact was that the married ladies realized and urged to also invite their husband and sons so that they may also see this major paradigm shift and eventually somehow can knock their patriarchal mindset.
